This week

Instead of homework, students in all grades will be working on projects. They will have the entire week during class to work on their projects, but may have to work on them at home, too. Students will be given a description and rubric today during class.

If students have any unused homework passes, they may use them as extra credit (10 points each) toward their final points grade.

Weekly Update

Good morning,

Hope you all are enjoying the nicer, not as cold weather.

This week I will NOT be assigning any specific homework assignments. However, each grade is ending their unit, so there will be a unit exam on Thursday for the students. They should focus their time studying and practicing their unit content. Here are the units by grade:

3rd grade: Clothing/Shopping: clothes, colors, weather, seasons, clothing descriptions (cotton, striped, cheap, etc.), stores, shoes, jewelry, shopping

4th grade: Camping: Camping necessities, food, animals, camping activities, weather expressions, verbs (necesitar, comer, ver, future tense (ir)), frequency words (sometimes, always, never)

5th grade: Tropical Rain Forest: Animals, animal descriptions, animal body parts, nature words, parts of a flower and tree, fruits, verbs to live and to grow

6th and 7th grade: House: Practice conversation questions, house parts, rooms, outside of the house, furniture, chores, descriptions, verbs (estar, es/son, tiene/tienen, hay, tener que)

Hope this helps guide the studying this week. Please email me if you have any questions. We will be reviewing all week for the students.

Thank you/Gracias,

Srta. Bost

Homework and Parent Teacher conferences

As a reminder, all grades have homework due this FRIDAY. No lates will be accepted as grades are due Friday and report cards are coming out next week.

Also, don't forget to sign up for parent-teacher conferences. There are three ways you can do that:
1) Return the letter sent home with your student indicating which times are best for you.
2) Email me with times you are available.
3) Register online at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0845A8AC22A5FC1-yswpcs . This website only has the times I am available on Friday, March 14th. I have availability the following week that is only listed on the letter sent home. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday the following week). Please let me know if none of these times work for you. We can work together to find a time that works.

Thank you for all of your support throughout this school year. I can't wait to meet with you all!

Homework

Sorry for the delay this week on writing the homework update.

Students did receive a homework packet this week (I condensed it to fit on less pages to save paper and ink but the same amount of work). I allowed students to work on their homework if they finished their quizzes early so some of them did start it and some did finish it.

Have a great week!

Homework/quizzes update

I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather - let's just hope it stays this way!

I am handing out a one page homework assignment to all grades due tomorrow. They will also be given an extra credit assignment which is due next Friday (February 28th - no lates will be accepted). All students have a quiz on Tuesday so we can continue with our units and build on what they have already learned. I am so impressed with their progress and can't wait to see how much more they will grow over the next couple of months.

I am also trying to contact as many parents as possible regarding grades this week. Because of last week, I am a little behind, but I am doing my best to try and catch up so please be patient! I want to work with all of you and help each and every one succeed! Also, if anyone has some field trip ideas, please share! I'd love to get the kids out and using their Spanish in real life!

Hope everyone has a great week and weekend and do not hesitate to contact me - You can always reach me by email! I try to check that as often as possible!

Homework this week AND tutoring Announcement

Hi everyone,

I am sad to announce the passing of my grandmother last night. Because of this, I will be taking a few days off this week for her funeral and to spend time with my family during this difficult time. Therefore, students will NOT have homework this week as I will not be there to do any new teaching. They will be completing work with the sub to help them review what they have learned so far. It is a good idea to have your children study their vocabulary and make flashcards to practice so that way they can be ready when they have their quizzes next week.

I am also cancelling tutoring this week. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you all for your understanding and we will be back to "normal" next week!

3rd grade Homework

In third grade, we have been working really hard on our Mexico projects to prepare for International Mother Language Day. The projects are taking a little longer than expected so for their homework,  I am only requiring that they complete the first page. They may do the second page for extra credit.

Sorry for any confusion!

Homework this week

Sorry for the lateness, but students in all grades have packets due on Friday! Gracias!

Homework this week

Hola,

Hope every one is keeping warm in this frigid weather! For this week's homework, students will receive a survey that they will have to complete. This survey is to help me understand their interests and how they think class is going thus far. It asks for their feedback on the two units we have completed and for suggestions for those units and future units. This will be their only homework. I will give them the homework tomorrow (Tuesday) as I am out sick today, but I still wanted to update you all!

Also, I have increased my hours for tutoring. I am still holding tutoring on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 4:20, but am now adding hours on Wednesdays. I will have two sessions (3:45 to 4:20 and 4:20 to 5:00). Students may stay one or both sessions. I will also send a letter home with this information.

Third grade - I have sent home a permission slip for your students to participate in a study to help us build the curriculum. Please read the letter and sign and return at your earliest convenience. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the people listed on the letter. Thank you in advance.

Have a great week!

Homework/TESTS

All students in grades 3-7 received a homework packet yesterday that will be due Friday, January 24th. The homework packet is larger than normal as it serves as a study guide for their upcoming unit exam.

Unit exams will be Monday and Tuesday of next week. Students should be studying (making flash cards is a great way to study vocabulary) and go over any grammatical concepts they learned and bring in any questions they have so that I can help prepare them to do well on their exam.

Thank you for all of your support!

Tarea and other news...

As a reminder, students received a homework packet on Friday. It is due this upcoming Friday.

Grades 3-5 will have a quiz on Friday.

Grades 6 and 7 will have a test on Friday.

I sent home letters in sealed envelopes to many students on Friday (and to some today if they were absent) with a grade update and reason for their grade. PLEASE sign and return to me as soon as you can. This is very important.

Don't forget you can always check grades online and to look at their weekly progress report and to email me if you'd like to discuss grades. I tried to contact as many parents as possible through email, phone calls and letters as I have over one hundred students and this can be difficult to do, but all students who have dropping grades should have received one of these methods of contact.

Thank you parents/guardians for all of your support!

Homework update

Hi all,

Hope you all stayed warm these past couple days!

I did not hand out homework on Monday because we ran out of paper and because of the two days off on Tuesday and Wednesday, I am going to give the students the homework for this week and add a page and make it due NEXT Friday (the 17th). I will give the students this homework tomorrow so they will have the weekend plus all next week to complete it. I am not sure what we are going to get through which is why I am waiting until tomorrow so I can see what page I can add for each grade.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend.
